About Your Guide: Paula Fothergill

Hi, my name is Paula Fothergill, and I love teaching people how to fly fish!

I learned fly fishing from my late husband Chuck Fothergill. Chuck was a world class fly fisher, guide and owner of the first fly shop in Aspen, Colorado (Fothergill’s Outdoor Sports). We met quite unexpectedly one day in Basalt, and I asked him “Do you ever go fly fishing with regular people like me?”

That one question opened the door for me to learn fly fishing from a wonderful person like Chuck and to step in to an amazing sport. More than just a sport it is an amazing connection to the stunning rivers and streams in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.

Since that first encounter with Chuck nearly 30 years ago I have become an accomplished fly fisher myself and enjoy nothing more than introducing new people to this sport.

The Colorado Angling Guide

The Colorado Angling Guide by Chuck Fothergill and Bob Sterling is a guide book for the fisherman and his family.  It is jam-packed with an abundance of interesting information about Colorado; it’s past, it’s present, it’s mountains, rivers, and lakes.  The authors have highlighted the state’s finest trout fishing waters with concise text and original, two-color, fold-out maps.  They’ve personally fished the waters and interviewed knowledgeable anglers throughout the state to bring together facts vital to all fisherman planning a trip to Colorado.
